We provide comprehensive multi-disciplinary assessments for adults with suspected ADHD, following the RCPsych and NHS GGC guidelines. All assessments will be done online over a video call. The assessment typically involves a minimum of 3 to 4 hours and will involve filling out several questionnaires and providing collateral history from a relative familiar with your childhood. This is in line with best practices and recommendations from leading authorities. We can also offer an objective test, the Qbcheck test, for an additional cost.
Yes, we prefer a referral from your GP, or any other healthcare professional (another psychiatrist/psychologist, etc).
Yes, at the moment, we only cater to individuals residing in Scotland.
Following your assessment, you'll receive a detailed report outlining the findings and recommendations. This report can be sent back to your GP, who can then decide to prescribe according to our recommendation or refer you to local NHS services for treatment options.
Currently, we do not provide private prescriptions for ADHD medication. We are happy to supervise your medication initiation and titration, but the prescription will have to be obtained from your GP. We can also provide follow-up appointments to monitor your progress. These follow-up appointments are typically around 30 minutes and will be conducted by a psychiatrist or a nurse, depending on availability and your specific needs.
We do not accept private insurance as most insurance companies do not cover ADHD assessments.
The assessment will be conducted by a team of experienced consultant psychiatrists and psychiatric nurses.
If you are diagnosed with ADHD, we can provide a letter of support to your employer or educational institution to request reasonable adjustments.
ADHD diagnosis is based on the presence of ADHD symptoms throughout childhood and adulthood. So, a detailed collateral history is necessary. It's possible that you didn't experience these symptoms in childhood, or these symptoms were not noticed. Similarly, symptoms in adulthood can vary depending on your situation. So, a thorough assessment will always leave opportunity for a reassessment if appropriate in the future. Very often, conditions like OCD, anxiety disorders, or depression can mimic ADHD symptoms. Identifying and treating these conditions is crucial. If this is the case, we will refer you to a clinician who specializes in managing these conditions.
